Stealth bitcoin fintech
**About the team**
You’ll be working on a well-funded international team led by two highly technical co-founders. One is a Data Science professor who built the world-class Machine Learning team at Upstart and led it from the startup stage to the IPO. The other is a cyber-security engineer turned product manager and serial entrepreneur who launched several successful fintech products at Tinkoff and Upstart.
We are working remotely from the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Argentina. We speak English and don’t mind accents because many of us are not native speakers.
**About the project**
Our vision is to build a fairer financial system where users have more power, security, privacy, and access to financial instruments. With Bitcoin, it became possible to eliminate banks and other centralized intermediaries that traditionally wield too much power over our lives.
As a first step to that vision, we are building the best lending platform for high-end Bitcoin art (Ordinals) where borrowers will be matched with lenders for collateralized loans. We launched the MVP on the testnet and are actively fixing bugs and preparing for the mainnet launch.
**Open position**
**CTO / Back-end Engineer, Remote, from 15 hours/week, from $7,000/month for a 40-hour workweek**
- Write backend code (85% of work)
- Review PRs and mentor other backend developers (10% of work)
- Assist with planning, architectural decisions, and DevOps (5% of work).
- Essential skills:
- Node.js
- SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL
- API design and implementation
- Additional skills (nice to have):
- Object-Relational Mapping (we use Sequelize)
- Authentication and Authorization
- Security best practices and secure coding patterns
You don’t necessarily need any Bitcoin experience, this is primarily a traditional fintech product. However, experience as a Bitcoin user is a plus, as is alignment with the vision of a more open financial system that promotes self-sovereignty.
**How we work:**
- You choose your own schedule.
- During the MVP development phase, we pay on a per-hour basis.
- We expect you to contribute at least 15 hours per week.
If our MVP is successful in the next few months, we’ll extend full-time job offers to successful candidates. These offers will include stock options or similar equity in our company for future work, in addition to monthly compensation. This is an exceptional opportunity to be among the first five employees in our company.
